Train passengers are rarely evenly distributed among the carriages. NEXT ARRIVAL communicates the amount of passengers on each carriage of the oncoming train to those waiting at the station. On the train, NEXT ARRIVAL system uses sensors and cameras in each carriage to estimate the number of passengers. The displays on the platform uses red, yellow, and green LEDs or color coded information on screen to indicate whether the carriage in this zone is almost full, having free space, or is fairly empty. The goal is to let passengers on the platform to distribute spontaneously and accordingly, maximizing the capacity of the train in peak time.
