Want to know how I become a designer? Read A Brief History of Aobo:
Before college, Aobo was a boy obsessed with radio control airplane since age 11. What dominated his mind was making model plane that looked beautiful and flew beautifully.
Besides the loops of building, flying, crashing and fixing his RC planes, Aobo entered Zhejiang University in China and started learning Mechanical Engineering, with the hope to design, build, and maybe also, break and fix machines. But He was not satisfied with just designing things to work. He wanted to to know how to make things work elegantly, so he took Industrial Design as double major. He thought the study life was awesome, even he had few free weekends.
One year to his bachelor graduation, he was still not out of his freshman energy. In that summer, he went to Chiba University in Japan, learning and designing with students from all over Asia. In the fall right after that, he became an exchange student at Singapore University of Technology & Design and joined the studio of Architecture and Sustainable Design, not only dreaming buildings, but also thinking smart systems for cities.
Now he just graduated as a Masters students from the Integrated Product Design Program at the University of Pennsylvania. He want to vision the future interaction between products and users, prototype ideas to feel and question them, and eventually create products that people touch and touch people.
Wonder what I can do? Check the list:
UX & UI Design: user research, information architecture, wireframing to high fidelity mockup and prototype with Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, OmniGraffle, Sketch, Principle, Framer, InVision
Prototyping: making prototypes interactive with Arduino, Processing, Matlab, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Industrial Design: sketching, 3D modeling and rendering, laser-cutting, 3D printing, CNC with Rhinoceros, SolidWorks, Pro/E, AutoCAD, KeyShot
